The Hawaiian Bobtail Squid, Euprymna scolopes. Bobtail squid share a unique symbiotic relationship with the bioluminescent bacteria, Vibrio fischeri. These bacteria are housed in a special light organ in the bobtail's mantle. Here the bacteria are fed sugar along with amino acids and in return hide the squid's silhouette from below by producing counter illumination
